Five things you need to know about the Ford EcoSport
The ideal family car. Discover the key features of the Ford EcoSport in our helpful buyer's guide.
The original Ford EcoSport was one of the first small SUV crossovers, and it has got better with each iteration. Here are the most important features of the latest version.
It looks after you and your family
A family car should be all about safety and the EcoSport certainly is that.
It’s packed with technology and safety systems including Pre-Collision Assist, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Plus front, side, knee and curtain airbags.
The interior layout is pretty clever
With the EcoSport you get a surprisingly roomy interior. The rear seats fold almost flat in a 60/40 split, but the really clever bit is the space and stowage on offer. A flip-up cushion allows the seatbacks to fold completely flat for easy luggage loading while an adjustable load floor can be fitted in three positions: ideal when you don’t want things piled on top of one another.
Petrol and diesel models are available
The engine range is familiar and conventional, with a choice of Ford’s award-winning 1.0-litre Turbo EcoBoost petrol engine or a 1.5-litre TDCi turbodiesel which offers superb overall efficiency.
Both are available with paddle-shift auto transmission and stop/start technology for ease of driving and optimal efficiency.
There’s some clever tech inside
Every feature of the EcoSport is designed to improve your driving experience. The FordPass Connect modem on models equipped with Ford’s Connectivity Pack delivers a host of features, including onboard 4G Wi-Fi and live-streamed traffic updates.
It gets Ford’s SYNC 3 mirroring, which lets you control a compatible phone, music and navigation set up using either a touchscreen or voice commands – and if that’s not enough you can specify a 10-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system. Rock on!
You won’t ever have to worry about a hill start again
Even the entry-level EcoSport comes with Hill Start Assist, so you don’t need to worry about slipping the clutch or rolling backward. Simply pull up on a slope and the EcoSport will hold itself on its handbrake until you pull away as smoothly as you would on a flat and even surface.
It also features traffic sign recognition to stop you from slipping over the limit.
