Volkswagen opens up order books for updated Tiguan and Arteon
Updated SUV and executive car gain more tech and new powertrain options
Volkswagen has opened order books for its updated Arteon and Tiguan which both usher in new tech and engines to the line-up.
Starting with the Tiguan SUV, which is now the firm’s best-seller globally, it benefits from revised styling and new tech – including Matrix LED headlights and the firm’s latest MIB3 infotainment system.
Prices for the updated Tiguan start from £24,915 for the base model with a 128bhp 1.5-litre petrol engine and rise to £39,010 for an R-Line-grade model with an updated 197bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine. Additional engines include 148bhp versions of both the 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel, while standard kit includes 17-inch alloy wheels, an eight-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone mirroring.
Moving over to the Arteon, which is available in a stylish Fastback guise as well as a new Shooting Brake (estate).
The Arteon gains similar updates to the Tiguan, but has now become more affordable thanks to the introduction of a 148bhp 1.5-litre petrol model, which in entry-level SE Nav grade costs from £31,965. Prices rise to £42,780 for the Shooting Brake in top-spec R-Line guise and with the aforementioned 197bhp 2.0-litre diesel option. All Arteons also come with digital dials, three-zone climate control and front and rear parking sensors.
Both the Tiguan and Arteon will also gain a sporty ‘R’ variant next year, which will see a 316bhp 2.0-litre petrol being fitted under the bonnet, while plug-in hybrids of each are also expected to join the range in 2021.
