Five things you need to know about the Audi Q7

Discover the key features of the luxurious Audi Q7 to decide whether it's the best car for you.
Five things you need to know about the Audi Q7
Audi’s big, luxurious and practical Q7 has stood as one of the very best premium seven-seaters around for many years now. In that time, it has evolved to become even more high-end while still retaining that all-important practicality.
The latest version has more features than ever and enough technology on board to keep even the most avid button-presser happy. Let’s find out what else it has to offer.
There’s space inside for seven
That’s right, the latest Q7 retains its ever-popular seven-seater layout. Though the rearmost seats are somewhat on the small side, they can be used by adults for shorter trips or by kids for longer ones. Either way, the added flexibility they bring is a real help.
Plus, both second and third rows can be neatly folded away to create one impressively large load area.
It’s got the latest infotainment setup
The Q7 benefits from Audi’s latest dual-screen infotainment setup. It combines two displays; the top one accesses media and navigation, while the lower screen controls heating and ventilation.
On top of this is the excellent Virtual Cockpit display which replaces the conventional dials ahead of the driver.
A range-topping SQ7 brings extra performance
If you’re after a go-faster version of the Q7 then you’re in luck, courtesy of the SQ7. These days, the SQ7 uses a massive 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 with 500bhp, driving power to all four wheels through an automatic gearbox.
Despite the SQ7’s large proportions, it’s still got enough power to manage the 0-60mph time in just 3.9 seconds.
A hybrid version delivers lower running costs
That said, if out-and-out performance isn’t your thing, then the plug-in hybrid SQ7 might tickle your fancy more. Combining petrol and electric power, the Q7 TFSI e is capable of travelling for up to 30 miles on battery power alone - more than enough for trips around town.
Plus, Audi says that providing you keep the batteries topped up, you could see in the region of 108.6mpg.
It’s got a huge boot
Being such a large car you’d expect the Q7 to have an equally spacious boot - and you’d be right. With the third row folded flat, you can access a huge 865 litres of space, or collapse the second row and this expands up to 2,050 litres.
Even with the third row in place, there’s around the same amount of boot space that you’d find in a compact car like the Ford Fiesta.
