Five things you need to know about the Audi TT
Now in its fourth generation, the Audi TT continues to be one of the best and most desirable sports coupés on the market.
It has a virtual cockpit
Like other models in the Audi range the TT has been adapted to use the brand’s ‘Virtual Cockpit’, which incorporates a digital binnacle ahead of the driver to display all essential information and can even show the sat nav map. The 12.6-inch display has a number of different layout options to suit individual drivers’ tastes.
There are over 25 cars on the same platform
The TT is based on VW Group’s MQB platform, which underpins pretty much every medium-sized car in the company’s portfolio, from the Polo at its smallest to the Tiguan SUV.
But this is nothing new. The original 1998 TT was one of the first cars to be developed via VW Group platform sharing and was based on the Mk 4 VW Golf.
There’s a hot RS version
The TT comes as standard with quattro permanent all-wheel drive and S Sports Suspension, but the RS model is even firmer, with adaptable settings.
The performance range topper uses Audi’s EA888 2.5-litre turbocharged engine, developing 306bhp and giving a lively 0-60mph time of 4.2 seconds. It’s an entertaining steer with prodigious levels of grip.
You can have amazing tunes
With the optional Comfort and Sound pack you can upgrade to a Bang & Olufsen Sound System. A 680-watt amplifier, twelve loudspeakers and two bass boxes create an impressive audio environment. Don’t let road and background noise spoil the experience – a microphone in the vehicle interior adjusts the sound according to outside influences.
Even the standard stereo is pretty good, with smartphone mirroring built-in and touchscreen tech, along with Audi’s digital cockpit display.
You can unlock it with your phone
Using Audi’s Connect app, you can pre-set your car’s infotainment system, climate settings, parking location settings and check the fuel level. You can also lock and unlock it with your phone or book servicing at your local Audi dealership.
